Zombies

Zombies are amazingly intriguing for some reason. Here is a list of zombies that i love to fear:

Call of Duty – Nazi Zombies:

Zombies enter the player-accessible area of the game map via windows, holes in walls, or climbing out of a dirt surface, which are initially barricaded but will be rapidly demolished by zombies. Players must survive endless waves of attacking zombies and there is no limit to the number of rounds. Zombies become stronger and faster upon the completion of each round, forcing players to make tactical decisions about point spending and progressing through the map.

Resident Evil – C-Virus Zombies:

The t-Virus is probably better known when discussing Resident Evil. The C-Virus zombies are mostly similar to the t-Virus zombies, but they have a lil something extra. This variety of zombie is capable of pouncing on prey quickly and suddenly, and have even been seen running briefly. Like the t-Virus zombies, these zombies also produce a great deal of stomach acid that can be highly dangerous when making contact with a living creature. Not only are they able to produce this acid, but they are also able to spit it across great distances.

The Last of Us – Clickers:

Did you not want to turn your bedroom lights off when you first encountered a cluster of these things? Me too! Clickers possess strength that significantly surpasses the average human. This makes them deadlier, but at the price of being completely blind due to fungal infection overtaking their face. However, Clickers are able to maneuver through areas by utilizing echolocation, which produces noticeable clicking noises to locate sources of sound. Clickers also possess what seems like very high intelligence, never leaving an area when they know or have heard food run by them, and will constantly check every available nook and cranny to locate the source of the sound with little regard to give up on the task at hand.

Half Life – Fast Zombies:

These zombies featured greatly in We don’t go to Ravenholm – the level that gave us all sleepless nights. The Fast Zombie is the product of a human host coming under the control of a Fast Headcrab. Fast Zombies are extremely quick and agile, being able to climb, run and jump faster and farther than a normal human. They lack skin or organs and are only comprised of their skeleton and muscles. Their claws are also much longer than Standard Zombies.

Obviously there is such a proliferation of the zombie species in games/movies/stories etc. and i could not manage to put them all in here. But please feel free to comment about your favorite zombie type if it has been left off the list 🙂

  1. I never liked the ones in Half Life. I found the start of episode 1 quite tense. Not sure about what my favourite zombie is, but my favourite zombie games are Dead Rising and Walking Dead.

  2. Zombies are always great in games! And can only agree, they are very interesting!
To my knowledge part of the reason comes from evolution. They are salient because
they represent an age old threat to us – contagion and disease. At the same time they are counter intuitive, as what we observe are corpses moving around, we know this shouldn’t be possible, but it is.
As for why they have become more popular of late is a longer discussion :b
    Anyway, great little read this!
