Fierce Fiction Wolves

We love wolves! My friends and i did not easily come to a consensus on our top 3 favorite fiction wolves, but here they are:

1. Carcharoth:

This wolf is from J.R.R Tolkien’s The Silmarillion. Carcharoth was bred from the foul breed of Draugluin, the first Werewolf, and fed with elvish and mannish flesh by Morgoth himself. Carcharoth was set as a guard on the Gates of Angband.  Beren held out the captured Silmaril (a precious jewel) in an attempt to stay the beast, but Carcharoth bit off Beren’s hand at the wrist with Silmaril and all. The Silmaril burnt away Carcharoth’s insides, and he became crazed with pain. Carcharoth was killed by Huan the hound.  When Mablung cut open the belly of Carcharoth, he found there the Silmaril with Beren’s hand still around it, but when he touched the flesh it was swept away by the wind.

2. Ghost:

This wolf if from George R.R Martin’s Game of Thrones. Ghost is one of six direwolf cubs that are found by the children of House Stark. Ghost is adopted and raised by Jon Snow. Ghost is an albino, with white fur and red eyes. He was the runt of the litter when he was born, though he quickly grew to be as big as the rest of his siblings. He is our favorite wolf of the six; because we feel that he’s a badass. Ghost is not afraid to venture into the Haunted Forest by Craster’s Keep. During the battle of Castle Black; Ghost helps Jon Snow kill off some wildlings. A truly loyal companion.

3. Don Karnage:

We haven’t forgotten our childhood just yet! Don Karnage is the main antagonist of Disney’s TaleSpin. He is a red wolf and the cunning leader of the villainous Air Pirates. Karnage fancies himself to be a swashbuckler, dashing and debonair, but he’s still a dirty rotten scoundrel, though he’s really not evil, per se. He and his “loyal” band are all wanted criminals in the fortressed city of Cape Suzette. His Air Pirates often patrol the outskirts of Cape Suzette in his flying fortress carrier called the Iron Vulture. There they lie in wait within the clouds for any unsuspecting pilots to pass so they can run an air raid.
